Yes, and this is a fair thing to ask for. Once your order is assigned to a truck and carrier, the certificate of insurance is on file. Ask us and we send it. We cannot send one before a carrier is assigned, because until then there is no carrier to certify.

The Bill of Lading is what protects you, which is why the inspection matters. The driver notes the car's condition at pickup and you both sign. At delivery you walk it again and compare. Anything new gets noted on the delivery copy before you sign, and the claim goes to the carrier's cargo insurance. Photos at pickup make this simple.

Yes, keep your policy running through the move. Cargo insurance covers the car while the carrier has it, and your own policy covers you the moment you drive it away. Canceling early to save a few days is a bad trade.

Usually yes, within reason. Most drivers will take a few things as a courtesy. Keep it under about 100 pounds, pack it neatly, and keep it out of sight from outside the car. Think a few boxes in the trunk rather than a carload. The one thing to know is that you are paying to move the vehicle, so the carrier's insurance covers the car itself. Keep anything you would hate to lose with you.

Start with a wash. A clean car makes the condition report accurate, and an accurate report is what protects you. For most addresses, yes, and where it is not we tell you why. A car hauler is around 75 feet long and needs room to turn and to drop its ramps. Cul-de-sacs, low branches, gated lots with height bars and streets posted against trucks are the usual snags. When one comes up, the driver picks a wide open spot within a few minutes of you and meets you there. Mention the street when you book and it is planned around rather than solved on the day.

The driver walks the car with you and marks its condition on the Bill of Lading. Scratches, dings, a cracked lens, all of it. You both sign, and you get a copy. The same walk happens at delivery, comparing against the pickup copy. It takes about ten minutes and it is the single most useful thing you do all day.

Someone does, at both ends, to sign the inspection and hand over or receive the key. It does not have to be you. Name a trusted adult as your representative, make sure they can reach the car, and give the driver their number.

You get GPS tracking when the carrier and truck support it, the driver's phone number for a call or a text along the way, and email updates from us. We put it that plainly because no one booking your shipment controls whether a given truck carries a tracking system. Plenty of companies advertise tracking as though they do.

A deposit is due when you book and the balance is paid to the driver at delivery, usually by cashier's check, money order or cash. You can also put the whole amount on a credit card at booking. Some customers prefer that, because it clears the funds up front and there is nothing to hand over on delivery day.

Cancel any time before we assign a carrier and your deposit comes back to you. Once we assign one and send you the driver's details, that money is spoken for. It is not gone, though. You can push the move back and use it on a later shipment.

This is the piece of common advice we would push back on. Plenty of people are told never to pay anything up front. In practice, a company willing to take nothing is often a company that is not certain it can buy you a truck at the number it quoted. The call that follows tends to start with the words carriers turned it down. Money on the table from both sides is what lets a price actually hold.

The clearest tell is a price that does not sit with the others. Gather four or five quotes. If they cluster and one comes in at half, that outlier is the one to question, not the ones to walk away from. Call and ask whether the rate is confirmed or a typo. If they stand behind it, search the company name alongside the words bait and switch and read what comes up. Then check the USDOT and MC numbers and the cancellation policy.

The price, what it covers, the pickup window in days, and what happens if you cancel. If any of those four is missing or vague, ask. A company that will put all four in writing before you pay is telling you something useful about how the rest of the job will go.
