How much does Tacoma to Las Vegas car shipping cost?
Open trailer, running mid-size car, reviewed September 2026. Valley cities share the Las Vegas figure.
| Route | Distance | Days on the road | Open transport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tacoma to Las Vegas | About 1,100 miles | 3 to 4 days | $1,100 to $1,300 |
| Tacoma to Henderson | About 1,115 miles | 3 to 4 days | $1,100 to $1,300 |
| Tacoma to North Las Vegas | About 1,095 miles | 3 to 4 days | $1,100 to $1,300 |
| Tacoma to Summerlin | About 1,110 miles | 3 to 4 days | $1,100 to $1,300 |
| Tacoma to Boise ON THE WAY | About 500 miles | 2 to 3 days | $700 to $900 |
| Tacoma to Phoenix FOR COMPARISON | About 1,430 miles | 4 to 5 days | $1,350 to $1,600 |
| Any route of 500 to 1,500 miles NATIONAL BAND | 500 to 1,500 miles | 2 to 5 days | $900 to $1,600 |
These are estimates, not fixed prices. Diesel makes up most of what this run costs, and its price keeps changing, so we review these numbers with the market. Days on the road are counted once your pickup window ends. Enclosed costs about 80 percent more than open. A car that does not run rides on a winch truck for $200 or more extra. See how our national bands work.
Las Vegas sits in the middle of our Mountain West lanes: more than Boise, less than Phoenix, and squarely inside the national band for the distance.
What route does Tacoma to Las Vegas auto transport take?
South on I-5 to Portland, then east through the Columbia River Gorge on I-84 past Boise and Ogden, and south on I-15 through St. George into the valley. It is two interstates and one turn.
The useful part: your car spends its first day on the same road as our Tacoma to Boise lane. That stretch carries steady carrier traffic, so a truck heading your way is usually easy to find.
Snow can slow the Gorge or the climb south of Ogden for a few hours between November and March. We add a spare day then, and the rest of the year this lane holds its schedule well.
Tacoma to Las Vegas Car Shipping Questions
The questions we get asked most on this lane, answered with this route's own numbers rather than national averages.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Tacoma to Las Vegas?
The cost to ship a car from Tacoma to Las Vegas is typically $1,100 to $1,300 on an open trailer, and takes between three to four days in transit time. That is a running mid-size car over about 1,100 miles, and the whole valley shares the price.
How long does Tacoma to Las Vegas car shipping take?
Three to four days on the road for about 1,100 miles. Your pickup window runs first: six days on Standard, three on Expedited, starting on the first date you give us.
Which roads does this lane use?
South on I-5 to Portland, east through the Columbia River Gorge on I-84 past Boise and Ogden, then south on I-15 through St. George and into Las Vegas. Your car passes within a few miles of our Boise lane for the first day.
Do Henderson and North Las Vegas cost the same?
Yes. Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Paradise, Spring Valley, Enterprise and Boulder City all share the Las Vegas range. Pahrump and Mesquite are a little farther out, so ask and we will quote them.
Can you collect a car I bought at a Las Vegas auction?
Yes, and it is a regular job for us in both directions. Give us the auction or dealer name, the lot or stock number and your buyer details, and we will arrange release and collection. Tell us if it does not run.
Why would my quote be at the top of the range?
Vehicle size, the trailer, whether the car runs, the season and how wide your dates are. A pickup truck or a single fixed day sits near the top; a sedan with a few flexible days sits near the bottom.
How do I get the lower end?
Give three or four possible pickup days. A driver already running I-84 with one spot open will take a car near the route rather than backtrack, and that is the best-priced seat on this lane.
When is this lane busiest?
Two stretches. October and November, as winter residents head south, and the summer moving season. Book three to four weeks out then. February and early March are usually the easiest weeks.
Does winter weather matter on this route?
A little, and it is easy to plan for. Snow can slow the Gorge or the climb south of Ogden for a few hours between November and March. We build in a spare day and pick a plowed spot to load.
Does summer heat affect the shipment?
Not the trip itself. It is worth checking tire pressure and the battery once the car has settled into Las Vegas heat, since both read differently there than in a Tacoma winter.
Open or enclosed to Las Vegas?
Open is right for most cars and it is what the price covers. Enclosed runs about 80 percent more, so a $1,200 open move is roughly $2,160 enclosed. It suits a collector car, a show car or fresh paint.
Is my car insured on the way?
Yes. The carrier's Carrier Cargo Insurance covers it from the Tacoma pickup to the Las Vegas delivery, and we send the certificate as soon as your truck is assigned.
Can I leave personal items in the car?
Usually yes, within reason. Most drivers will take a few things as a courtesy. Keep it under about 100 pounds, pack it neatly, and keep it out of sight from outside the car. Think a few boxes in the trunk rather than a carload. The one thing to know is that you are paying to move the vehicle, so the carrier's insurance covers the car itself. Keep anything you would hate to lose with you.
How do I get the car ready?
Wash the car, photograph each side and the odometer, and leave about a quarter tank. Take off a roof box, bike rack or Good To Go pass, and mention an alarm or any starting trick.
Can the truck load at my Tacoma address?
Curbside loading works in South Tacoma, Fife and the streets near I-5. The North End, Stadium District, Proctor and Hilltop are steeper, so the driver sets a wide lot nearby, usually on Pacific Avenue or 6th Avenue.
Can you deliver to a Strip resort or a high-rise?
Yes, from a nearby lot rather than the porte-cochere. Resort driveways and parking structures are too low for a loaded carrier, so the driver picks a spot a few minutes away and hands the car over there.
Can you deliver to a gated community?
Yes. Summerlin, Anthem, Seven Hills and similar communities usually need a call to the gate first. Give us the gate details when you book and we pass them to the driver.
Do I need an emissions test in Las Vegas?
Most gas cars do. Nevada requires it in the urban parts of Clark County, which covers the Las Vegas Valley. Electric cars, motorcycles, vehicles from 1967 or older and new vehicles on their first three registrations are exempt.
What do I need to register the car in Nevada?
Your title or lease papers, Nevada insurance, the emissions certificate where one applies, and a VIN inspection at the DMV. The Nevada DMV New Resident Guide lists the full set.
Do you ship to Nellis Air Force Base?
Yes. Nellis is on the northeast side of the valley, and our Lakewood office sits next to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, so this pairing comes up often. Start with your orders, since the vehicle allowance depends on the move type.
Can someone else receive the car for me?
Yes. Name them when you book and share their phone number. They can walk the car with the driver and sign the condition report at delivery.
When should I book?
Two to three weeks suits this lane most of the year, three to four in the fall rush. Expedited brings the pickup window down to three days when your date is fixed.
How does payment work?
A deposit at booking holds the spot. The balance goes to the driver at delivery by cashier's check, money order or cash, or you can put the full amount on a card when you book.
What if my dates change?
Cancel any time before we assign a carrier and your deposit comes back to you. Once we assign one and send you the driver's details, that money is spoken for. It is not gone, though. You can push the move back and use it on a later shipment.
Can you move a car that will not start?
Yes. A winch truck handles it, and that adds $200 or more to the running price. Mention it at quote time so the right equipment is booked.
Is the trip back from Las Vegas priced the same?
Close to it, and worth asking about together if you are planning a round trip. The same trucks work the corridor in both directions through the year.
How do I know Smart Auto Move is legitimate?
Look up USDOT 2887232 on the FMCSA SAFER site, which is free, and check our BBB record: A+ and accredited since 2016. A quote far below the others is the one to question.
Can I track my car?
Yes. Call or text the driver on the number we give you, watch for our email updates, and use GPS tracking where the carrier's truck supports it.
Buying a car at a Las Vegas auction or dealer?
This lane runs busy in both directions for exactly that reason. Las Vegas is a big wholesale and auction market, and cars bought there head north to Washington every week.
- Send the auction or dealer name and the lot or stock number.
- Tell us who releases the car and when it is paid for.
- Say if it does not run, so a winch truck is assigned.
We work with the release process rather than around it: the driver arrives with the paperwork he needs, collects, and the car is on its way. Give us the gate hours too, since auction lots often release only on set days.
Delivery across the Las Vegas valley
We deliver to Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Paradise, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Green Valley, Anthem, Boulder City and Blue Diamond, plus Pahrump and Mesquite on request.
Most of the valley suits a full-size carrier: wide arterials, newer subdivisions and plenty of room off I-15 and the 215. Gated communities like Summerlin, Anthem and Seven Hills usually need a call to the gate, so send the details when you book.
For a Strip resort or a high-rise, the driver meets you at a lot a few minutes away rather than under the porte-cochere, since resort driveways and parking structures are built lower than a loaded trailer. It takes about ten minutes and costs nothing extra.
Registering your car in Nevada
Most gas cars in the urban parts of Clark County need an emissions test, which covers the Las Vegas Valley. Electric vehicles, motorcycles, anything from 1967 or older and new vehicles on their first three registrations are exempt, according to the Nevada DMV.
To register, bring your title, Nevada insurance and the emissions certificate where one applies, and expect a VIN inspection at the DMV. The New Resident Guide lists everything in one place.
Two small habits help a car that arrives from a cool, wet climate: check the tire pressures once it has sat a day in the heat, and have the battery tested before the first summer. Both read differently here than they did in Tacoma.
Where Tacoma to Las Vegas vehicle shipping collects
We pick up across Pierce County and the south Sound: Tacoma, Lakewood, University Place, Puyallup, Fife, Federal Way, Auburn, Gig Harbor, DuPont, Spanaway and Bonney Lake.
Curbside loading works in South Tacoma, Fife and near the I-5 corridor. Up in the North End, the Stadium District, Proctor and Hilltop the grades and parked cars get tight, so the driver picks a wide lot nearby, often along Pacific Avenue or 6th Avenue.

Every Tacoma lane we price sits in one table on our Tacoma car shipping page.
Military orders, seasonal moves and students
Nellis Air Force Base sits on the northeast side of the valley, and our Lakewood office is next to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, so orders move people along this lane in both directions. Read the orders first: the vehicle allowance depends on the move type, and your transportation office will confirm which applies. Our military car shipping page has more on meeting outside the gate and shifting dates.
Winter residents head south in October and November and back north in March and April. Book the return when you book the trip down and both ends are settled.
UNLV turns over in late August, the same weeks the Tacoma-area campuses do, so give that stretch three to four weeks of notice. Our college student car shipping page has the timing.

An open trailer carries most cars on this lane at the best price. An enclosed trailer suits a collector car, a show car or new paint, and it keeps desert grit off the finish. Budget about 80 percent more than the open price.
Expedited narrows the pickup window to three days when a date will not move. See the open and enclosed guide for a side-by-side look.
